Knotwood a Part of Tim Horton's $700M Renovation Plans / by Guest User

Renovation Plans

Over the past year and a half, Tim Horton’s has been in the process of implementing a massive renovation plan of hundreds of their locations across Canada. The renovation plans exceed $700m and are intended to bring a warmer, more comfortable, and more natural atmosphere to their existing stores.

Amongst the renovation plans are open-concept seating made up of red bar stools and leather bucket chairs with plenty of wood accents. The open-seating concept is intended to help foster a stronger sense of community, which Tim Horton’s fosters at the core of their brand.

The updated design will continue to be rolled out across a majority of Tim Hortons locations nation-wide over the next two years.

The new-look of Tim Hortons will be designed with “natural-looking, lighter and more inviting materials.” Glass, wood and dark metal seem to be the theme involved in the renovations. Achieving the look of natural wood is where Knotwood comes into the plans.

As renovations begin to roll out, customers will notice a combination of wood panelling and white brick being added to the store’s exterior. However, the company is keeping its well-recognized, red-cursive logo.

Behind the Design

The new Welcome Image is a part of Tim Horton’s focus on always striving to improve the guest experience, through a more contemporary restaurant environment, premium quality coffee and food, and new creative ways to connect with guests.

Alex Macedo, President of the Tim Hortons brand said: “Throughout the creative process, we conducted extensive market testing that revealed our new Welcome Image is not only approved but loved by our guests across the country.”

The renovation includes exterior upgrades with materials such as Knotwood to create a warm and welcoming feeling, as well as interior updates to all public areas, service areas, washrooms and interior furnishings. The full scope of the plan includes a complete redesign from top-to-bottom that revitalizes the in-store experience and ultimately the Tim Horton’s brand

Use of Knotwood

Knotwood was chosen as a part of the Tim Horton’s revitalization plans for its ability to meet all of the expected aesthetic and functional expectations for the exterior redesign. As mentioned before, one of the three main pillars of the Tim Horton’s redesign is the use of natural wood.

While using real wood material for the interior redesign is the ideal and reasonable decision, it is not sustainable for the store exteriors. That is where Knotwood rises above natural wood.

Tim Horton’s was able to select the precise look, grain, and colour of Knotwood wood-like panelling that perfectly mirrors the Tim Horton’s brand. Best of all, by using Knotwood Tim Horton’s can be reassured that the panelling will not rot, discolour, corrode, or stain from the tough Canadian weather.

Some of our favourite features of Knotwood, and why our clients prefer it over other wood-like panelling include the following:

Corrosion-resistant

Knotwood is made from high-quality aluminum which provides excellent corrosion protection and is self-repairing if damaged.

Light Weight

Knotwood has a density of one-third that of steel and a weight 50% less than wood when compared equally.

Stain & Scratch-resistant

Knotwood’s top coat is the industry’s leading material in hard-wearing wood-like products.

Colour Stability

Knotwood looks better for longer. To ensure your colour choice stands the test of time, Knotwood resists peeling, chipping and cracking.

Eco-friendly

Knotwood is 100% recyclable, uses VOC free coatings and lead-free finishes resulting in a smaller environmental footprint for us and for you.

Freeze & Frost-resistant

Knotwood doesn’t absorb water or moisture, meaning it won’t warp and expand when exposed to extremely cold conditions.

Tim Horton’s put their trust in Knotwood because it offers all the same great aesthetic features of real wood and the strength and durability of aluminum cladding. Contact us to learn more about Knotwood and we’ll help determine if its the right product for you.
