Exposed structural roof and floor deck ceiling systems — long-span, acoustically tuned, and architecturally expressive. The ceiling is the structure.
Exterior Technologies Group is the Canadian distributor for EPIC Metals — exposed structural roof and floor deck ceiling systems with long-span steel panels that simultaneously serve as the building's structural diaphragm, finished ceiling, and acoustical surface. One system, three jobs.
For more than 56 years, EPIC Metals has been practicing what the company calls the Art and Science of structural deck engineering. The product line spans flat, vaulted, and free-form geometries — from the linear-plank elegance of Toris to the dramatic barrel vaults of Archdeck — all engineered to clear-span up to 58 feet without intermediate supports.
Because the structural deck is exposed below, the system eliminates the need for a separate dropped ceiling. Acoustical performance is built into the panel itself: perforated facings with mineral wool infills deliver high NRC ratings without adding a second layer of construction. The result is a leaner build, lower floor-to-floor heights, and a ceiling plane that becomes a deliberate architectural feature.
EPIC's panels contribute to LEED certification across multiple credit categories — recycled steel content, regional materials, daylighting (when paired with translucent inserts), and reduced material consumption. EPIC has supplied product to more than 378 LEED-certified projects since joining USGBC in 2004.
ETG distributes the full EPIC product family across Canada — Toris, Envista, Wideck, Super Wideck, Archdeck, Epicore, Epicore MSR, and the Timberlok woodgrain finish range. We support the design team from concept through shop drawings, with structural engineering review, acoustical modeling, and installer coordination tailored to Canadian climate and code requirements.
Clear spans from 6 to 58 feet — eliminates intermediate columns and opens the floor plate.
Perforated facings with mineral infill — high NRC without a second ceiling.
Archdeck and Wideck panels curve in the strong direction — no rolled structural steel required.
High-recycled-content steel, regional sourcing, and dropped-ceiling elimination credits.
From the linear plank of Toris to the deep barrel vaults of Archdeck, every EPIC system shares the same structural-plus-finish logic — exposed below, structural above, acoustically tuned, and clear-spanning what conventional construction cannot.
Linear-plank ceiling with softened, recessed-corner edges. A dovetail recess conceals roofing fasteners for an uninterrupted plane.
Three interchangeable panels — U-up, D-down, F-flat — combined to create custom rhythmic ceiling patterns. The most expressive in the line.
Bold ribbed appearance with concealed fasteners. Spans further than any system in the EPIC family — built for civic and transit halls.
Up to 80% lighter than precast at comparable spans. Beamed ceiling profile delivers strong structural presence without the load.
Deep-corrugated panel curves in its strong direction — barrel vaults and arches without rolled structural steel. Ribbed or flush profile.
The original linear-plank system. Dovetail ribs accept inserted hangers anywhere along the deck for flexible utility integration.
Composite floor system for multi-story residential — hotels, condos, student housing. Acts as both reinforcing form and finished ceiling.
Realistic woodgrain finish applied to structural steel deck — the warmth of wood with the span, acoustics, and durability of steel.
Complete overview of all eight system families with profile sections, span tables, and finish options.
Three-part specification format aligned with Canadian CSC NMS workflows — Toris, Wideck, and Archdeck systems.
NRC ratings, absorption coefficients, and design guidance for perforated facings across the EPIC line.
Selected EPIC Metals installations — transit terminals, civic buildings, dealerships, and educational facilities where the structural ceiling is also the design statement.
Whether you're sizing a column-free transit hall or a barrel-vaulted lobby, our team supports the design from concept through construction — structural review, acoustical modeling, shop drawings, and installer coordination for EPIC systems across Canada.
